Our Young Children’s Community is a thoughtfully prepared Montessori environment for children aged 16 months (confidently walking) to 2.5 years.

At this delicate and dynamic stage of development, children are beginning to assert their independence while still deeply reliant on trusted adults for guidance and security. This unique blend of dependence and emerging capability is at the heart of our community—called ‘Kalika’, meaning ‘bud’—a name that beautifully reflects the early blossoming of the young child.

Children are given time and space to explore, participate, and grow at their own rhythm, supported by adults who observe carefully, guide gently, and respond with warmth and patience.

We believe in nurturing functional independence—the foundation for a child’s growing sense of self. Whether it’s pouring water, putting on shoes, or helping set the table, each experience is designed to inspire the quiet confidence of “I can do it by myself.”
An Environment Rich in Sensory Exploration
Children in this age group learn through their senses and through movement. Our environment is filled with real-life experiences that engage the whole child:

Preparing the Child for the Next Stage
Kalika gently supports the transition between the world of the infant and the greater independence of the Primary classroom.
